We were lucky two times to get it re-started and get off the road. My wife or I could have easily been hit by vehicles coming up behind us. It is dangerous for a vehicle to stall in traffic and if it happens again, I'd be very disappointed. Hoping that the new fuel pump and canister will resolve this problem. To charge customers around $1,500 for repairs like this when fuel pumps should last much longer is poor form. After reading all of the similar issues here, this problem seems prevalent enough for a TSB if not a Recall to me. They replaced the fuel pump and vapor canister. He said that they had called and talked with FCA engineers about it but that it hadn't risen to the level of getting a TSB. I asked to speak to the mechanic and asked him if there was a TSB on this issue. They diagnosed that "the roll over valve on the fuel pump stuck open allowing liquid fuel through valve and filled vapor canister and vapor line to purge solenoid." Was able to re-start the Cherokee and limp to the dealer. Then one day, right after the tank was filled, the car stalled in traffic. Go to and make a complaint! This will assist the NHTSB in getting Jeep to do something about this terrible safety problem.ΔΆ014 Cherokee Limited 3.2L V6, 63,000 miles, garage kept - Jeep had idled rough and died before off and on. However, in order for the NHTSB to be most effective here, everyone with this issue need to file an on-line complaint. The NHTSB reached back out to me and said they have a number of similar complaints and are investigating. ABSURD!!!! They say there is no fix other than don't totally fill up the car. After first telling me it was an oil consumption issue, they changed their tune and now say that their engineers have issued a bulletin and the cause is that I am overfilling the gas tank and that causes the car to stall out. I took it into Jeep and spoke directly with Jeep/Chrysler Customer Service at corporate. Most recently, after filling up the gas tank, the car stalled out, and when we tried to restart it and put it in gear, the car bucked and operated with little to no power and then just stalled out on the road again. On multiple occasions after hitting 42,000 miles, each time we fill up the car, the car stalls when you brake.
